Shanghai Mansion is located in the heart of Chinatown with a renowned bar on the 1 rd floor giving onto Yaowarat street.
This well-known award-winning boutique hotel was built in a historical Mansion in the Chinatown area and decorated in 1930 Shanghai Style with antiques and modern furniture.
The hotel is ideally located within 5 mn of Wat Trimit, home to the largest solid gold Buddha in the world, and a 15 mn walk from the MRT Hua Lamphong Station. The location is perfect to explore around and discover all the traditional Chinese coffee shops, restaurants, and shops that Yaowarat has to offer.
On the first floor of the hotel treat yourself to a cocktail at the Rose restaurant and live Jazz bar opening right out onto the Yaowarat and observe the crowd passing by.
Shanghai Mansion: The room
We booked the suite Mu Dan which is around 50 m2, styled with antiques and vintage Chinese style.
The room has 2 small windows, no balcony, the bathroom is open and got a door for the shower and toilet.
On the same floor, there s an impressive pond with an impressive view “to the roof” in patio style.
A good choice if you want to stay in the Chinatown area though the price could be a bit lower given the fact that there’s no swimming pool, terrasse or balcony.
The hotel also have a SPA for you to relax after your long days walks around Chinatown.

A nice place to shoot models for photographer
It’s also a nice place for photographers to shoot models in Bangkok.
Not only in the room but also in the hotel, many floors are quiet and you get long corridors to make good use of your aperture.
Take your model out too, the surrounding offers many little alleys with old walls and stalls.
Many shops around also offer Qipao traditional Chinese dress and fans get more feeling of the era.
Here are some shots i made for Maline Thailand and Mad About Jewelry indoor and outdoor, plus some shoots with the model after work.
